This issue was three-fourths reviews so a little sparse on the essays.
Royal Court Of Punk
Sort of an allegory about how, despite all its free thinking ideals, a lot of punk rockers are very narrow minded in their acceptance of things outside the norm of “punk” be it fashion, music, attitudes etc. I’m not really knee deep in the scene anymore so not sure how well this holds up. Probably does though.School Is Cool
This is about the flawed American educational system that does not prepare its students for life in the real world as I bitterly found out after college. High school is strictly college prep and college is focused on liberal arts, none of which helps much with landing jobs. This proposes creating a separate vocational track after 10th grade for people that will not be attending college and creating college majors that are tailored to industries so you have some chance of getting a job in that field. One Nevada Day
This was written by a good friend of mine about his gambling addiction. He doesn't live in Vegas anymore but thanks to the internet he’s still an addict to this day!
Looking Out For #1
This was about my rough and tumble introduction to the post college work world via the wonderful medium of temp agencies. Basically I learned that you’re a disposable hunk of meat that they ship off on shitty job after shitty job until you either burn out or you finally gain long term employment (which they don’t want because they lose the money they’re making off you). The quicker you can get these leeches out of your life, the better. The Choice Is Yours
This is a pro-choice rant. Not as hot of a topic these days but still something to think about. The Prez In Mr. Rogers Neighborhood
My lame attempt at writing a diary/personal style article. It was about the time I saw the Clinton motorcade roll through town.
